ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY - CRAWFORD COUNTY The Crawford County Attorney’s office is seeking a full-time Assistant County Attorney for the Girard, Kansas office. The individual will be responsible for matters pertaining to first appearances, status conferences, juvenile offender and child in need of care proceedings, care and treatments, misdemeanor trials, preliminary hearings, and low level felony jury trials. The new Assistant will work closely with experienced prosecutors in developing and honing in on their trial skills. This is a very fast paced environment and must adapt well under pressure. Crawford County, with its population of approximately 40K, is located in Southeast Kansas and is the home of Pittsburg State University and the 2011 NCAA Division II National Football Champions. Funding for this position is not guaranteed past December 31, 2012 and continuation of the position past that date is dependant upon successful grant renewal. The prosecutor will handle all domestic violence (DV) cases and will be expected to work intensely to recognize the unique needs of DV victims and when appropriate to refer them to relevant services at the local and State level.
